The dog park contains two fenced areas totaling 4.7 acres. The small dog area is for dogs weighing 40lbs and less and is 2-2.5 acres. The other is for larger dogs and is 3-3.5 acres. It is located on the south side of Switchyard Park. Dogs must be spayed or neutered, up to date on all vaccinations, and at least four months of age. There is no admission fee to use the dog park.
The parking lot closest to the dog park is the Rogers Street parking lot, and is approximately 1,666 feet from the lot to the dog park.
Rules of Use
- The dog park is unsupervised. use at your own risk. The City of Bloomington Parks and Recreation assumes no liability for injuries in this non-supervisted facility. (Indiana Code 34-13-3-3).
- Dog owners are responsible for their own dogs. owners are expected to pick up their dog’s waste and to comply with all ordinances,
- regulations, and laws governing dogs.
- Maximum two dogs per individual.
- Dogs must be leashed while entering and exiting the park.
- Do not leave dogs unattended. Owners must remain in control and in sight of their dogs at all times.
- Dogs must be spayed or neutered, and up to date on all vaccinations.
- Owners must fill in holes their dogs dig.
The following are prohibited at the Dog Park:
- Pets other than dogs.
- Dog toys other than tennis balls.
- Dogs that are aggressive, sick, or younger than four months of age.
- Profanity.
- Food (human and dog), glass containers, smoking and vaping, alcoholic beverages, and illegal drugs.
- Amplified music.
- tagging, graffiti, stickers, and decals.
- Other advertising, including posters, fliers, banners and yard signs.
